KATE HUDSON: Break a sweat everyday

Kate Hudson
Self Magazine May 2014

"For me, if I break a sweat, I'm doing something right!"

Kate Hudson

"My mom once said something so poignant to me: 'Honor your female friendships, because men can come and go, but when we nurture our relationships with women, they can be forever.' I really believe that. My girlfriends are so important to me. They've been my rock-solid foundation. You have a choice: Support the woman standing next to you or compete with her. But if you compete, you're going to be miserable. Stick with what motivates you and makes you happy."

"My workout mantra is 'Break a sweat everyday.' Even if it's just for 20 minutes. I'm very disciplined about that. That said, sweating every day doesn't mean you have to go crazy. Even if I'm running with the kids, I feel like I've done something. One day, you know, you might have so much energy that you skip around the block. But if I have the time, I try to do pilates at least twice a week. I've been doing it for 15 years and I think it strengthens from the inside. When your core is strong, everything else starts to lift up."

"A triathlon is on my bucket list. I started training a long time ago and my life took a different turn: Things happen; work happens. I will definitely accomplish that at some point!"

"I make sure I eat well without depriving myself of the things that I love: a cheeseburger and fries, creamy white-truffle pasta, bowls of ice cream. Everything in moderation, but I indulge at least three times a week. Usually I aim for 1,800 calories a day. My friend Ginnifer Goodwin told me about this app MyFitnessPal, and then I got obsessed with it, because knowledge is power. I memorized everything, so if anything gets on the table, I literally know how many calories it is. The greatest day of my life was when I realized a small piece of pizza was only 150 calories. I was like, That means I can have three slices for a meal!"

"When you set goals, I think other things in your life start to follow because you realise you can actually achieve something.  I want to motivate people to actually get active and feel good doing it."

The Other Woman

Carly the girlfriend

"I love women - and I don't believe in female jealousy. I don't feel like it's a good feeling to have. I think that all women have been sexually attracted to another woman at some point."
Cameron Diaz

Kate the wife

"When I see people who are supposed to have been married twenty years, who hold hands and kiss, and every kiss is hot, and they're having magical sex every day, I'm like, "Screw you! Don't make me feel bad about myself!" Maybe I'm wrong, maybe people do have that. But I don't believe it."
Leslie Mann

Amber  the other woman

"My curves are natural. I love my body it's what God gave me. I feel confident with myself and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies great."

ROSIE HUNTINGTON: Victoria's Secret

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

"I'm not here to win a popularity contest. I'm here to work and have a career. Let the haters hate."
- Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

"I was a bit of an Ugly Betty when I was 15.
I had braces."

"I like to go out and dance, but I'm always the person that needs to go to bed first. I'm not a party girl."

"People assume I have wings hanging all over my house, but that is not the case. I'd love to wear them for a fancy-dress party sometime. It's still such a huge thing for a model. I don't know a girl in the world who would put those wings on and not feel, just for a split second, very special."
